This duo consisting of a cat and dog is proof that love and friendship can heal anything. Spike, a mixed breed dog, and Max, the cat, have an unbreakable bond and work together as a team. While they may seem like an unlikely pair, they serve as a reminder to enjoy life and keep our loved ones close.
In January, Max and Spike’s previous family could no longer care for them and passed them on to the Saving Grace Animal Society shelter in Alberta, Canada. Amanda McClaughan, who works at the shelter, revealed to CBC News that they had been living outside and huddling close to each other to stay warm, which is likely how their friendship started. Spike had suffered from painful cataracts, resulting in the sad loss of his eyes.
Amanda suggests that Max serves more as a “support cat” to himself rather than guiding him around. According to her, Max simply provides a level of comfort and support to himself. He can smell him, feel him, and this is a way to alleviate his stress and keep his anxiety down.
In February, the shelter made a Facebook post in an effort to find a home for the duo. They describe Max as the yin to Spike’s yang and emphasize the importance of keeping them together. Max has been a constant presence in Spike’s life and they should be adopted together. Max has a delightful personality and is sure to bring laughter to your life!
This post gained thousands of shares and likes, as Max and Spike found their forever home within just 11 days. The shelter provided an update to their followers, stating that Max and Spike were adopted together by a lovely family in Manitoba. “They are on their way home with their new mama,” the post says. “We are wishing the best of luck to this adorable duo.” What a heartwarming story!
